Momentous Decisions

Momentous Decisions

As human beings, we have free will and are able to make choices. With that ability comes enormous responsibilities. That’s why our choices matter.

Our decisions steer the direction our lives take. The results we have in various areas of our lives are a summation of the day-to-day choices we have made in those areas.

Our decisions make us. Poor choices are like cancer that gradually eats away the area of our lives in which the decision relates to. I once heard a preacher say that we are born looking like our parents, but we would die looking like the decisions we made. Think about that for a moment! It really got me pondering…

It means that at the end of your life, you won't be looking like the environment you grew up in or the genes you inherited from your parents. Instead, you will be looking like the decisions you made while you were alive.

Some decisions are weightier and have far greater consequences than others. These choices are so crucial that they will affect your ability to fulfil purpose on earth, the quality of life your everyday life or even your eternal destination.

All through our lives, we will continue to make decisions until the very end. Even when we shy away from making decisions, we are inadvertently making them.

This blog is concerned about two extremely important decisions that must be given uttermost attention to. I call them the two momentous decisions.

The first and most important decision of your life is choosing to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as your Lord. This secures your eternal destiny and begins the journey that equips you for impactful and victorious living on earth.

It’s the most crucial decision you’ll ever make. I’ll encourage you to do it today if you haven’t. Don’t put it away…

Another major decision is your choice of who to marry (of course only relevant to those that desire marriage). It's a mission-critical decision. It's a door that can potentially lead to many things in your life (good or bad).

Who you marry can shape the rest of your life. It can make or break your earthly journey, its ramifications can go on for decades. It's far better to remain single than to enter into marriage with the wrong person.

It’s so important that you understand the deep connection that marriage creates, it’s lasting impact and the need to choose wisely

It shouldn’t be a casual decision nor a spur-of-the-moment one. Don't put yourself under pressure or allow anyone to do so. Don't be frivolous.

Bring God into the equation and allow Him guide you. Never compromise on your values, your purpose, visions and most importantly, your relationship with the Lord.

First, be clear on your purpose and vison in life. Mature emotionally and spiritually. Understand why God ordained marriage. Have a clear vision of the kind of home you want to build. Get all the information you need. Ask questions. Give yourself time.

Train yourself to discern and see beyond the surface. Pray, pray and pray again.

Let God lead you. He has the blueprint of your life and has seen every day of your life before the first day began.

Decision-making is a natural rhythm of life. Embrace it.
